FILM HISTORY AS A LIST AWARDS 2011 – BEST LEADING ACTOR: JEFF BRIDGES (TRUE GRIT)

To call the career of Jeff Bridges varied would be a complete understatement. He has never been a man who fit the mold of any one particular role and as such has experimented in playing several different types of characters. He has been effective as a straight leading man and equally convincing in more bizarre roles such as his iconic turn in the Coen Brothers Big Lebowski which is arguably the funniest film of the nineties. Bridges is a fantastic character actor who brings an honest, human depth to whatever character he might be playing and in his award winning role in True Grit  is very effective as the rugged and constantly drunk super marksman who is clearly disguising quite an anguished past. He gives the role a certain enigmatic charm that helps to make each moment of his screen time utterly compelling.
